Rosary Bike Ride – I am pleased to say I completed the ride to Walsingham and back, arriving home late on 21st July. There will be a display on the ride at OLSP next weekend, and at St Bernard’s the following Sunday (19th).  My ride coincided with the 70th anniversary of the cross carrying pilgrimage to Walsingham – 1 of the 14 crosses, which today form the stations of the cross at the shrine, was carried from OLSP –  the display will include information on that event, which is well remembered at the shrine.  I will be happy to pick up sponsorship money at the displays – thanks again for your support of the pro-life cause. Les Whittaker.

EAST GRINSTEAD CATENIANS  –  Members and their families are reminded of the cocktails evening on 10th August.  The Catenian Association is a Catholic faith-based friendship group for men who meet socially and support each other through fellowship, faith, family, fun and fundraising.  To find out more on the Catenian Association please call Paul Barrett on 01342 870058 or  visit http://www.egcats.co.uk

Traidcraft  Exchange  Hidden Entrepreneurs Appeal
Earlier in the year, the charity arm of Traidcraft asked its supporters around the UK to help people in the developing world to be able to set up small businesses to support their families.  There were many events in communities and schools, including Lingfield & East Grinstead.  £548,530 was raised and this was doubled by the UK Government to a grand total of £1,097,060 (which does not include gift aid).  The funds will support Traidcraft’s work in helping more hidden entrepreneurs all around the world, and particularly a new project in Meru county, Kenya.  Please support Traidcraft.

SVP – Please charge and this is note that at long last a collection service is being arranged for light furniture and other household goods, by a driver with a van from mid – August 2018, two days a week (days and time to be decided). There may be a small collection for an initial two months trial period. Please contact the SVP Broadfield, Crawley, Shop Manager – Maurizio, on 01293 517135 to confirm suitability of items to be collected and date/time of collection.”

LINGFIELD SVP GREAT FAMILY RACE NIGHT  –  Saturday, 8th September, 7.30pm at Jubilee Community Centre, Charlwood Road, East Grinstead.  Two course meal included, live racing with children riding the hobby horses, licenced bar.  Every penny will go to the SVP South Sudan Baby Feeding Programme.  Tickets available from SVP members and by ordering on 01342 327222 or 07889 323431.  £5 per adult, £10 per family of four.

CHILDREN IN THE PARISH  –  It is great to have these children in the Parish.  After discussion with the Core Group of the Parish the decision has been made –

  1. Replace in both churches the 1st Sunday no children’s liturgy and children’s mass with the 2nd Sunday instead.  This is because so many 1st Sundays fall when children are away on holiday throughout the year.
  2. In OLSP to start again Liturgy of the Word for children on the 1st Sunday of the month only due to shortage of children’s liturgy folk.  Children’s Liturgy will be for children between 4-8 years. These changes will come in for the new school year.
