ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – “Exposition takes place every Friday morning at Our Lady & St Peter’s between 09:00-1:00pm. Come let us adore Him.”

REFRESHMENTS – Everybody is cordially invited for refreshments after Sunday Mass at both St Bernard’s and Our Lady & St Peter’s churches.

WILLS & BEQUESTS – The Parish has benefited greatly in the past from the thoughtfulness of parishioners who have nominated the parish to receive funds from their estate. Please consider it.

GIFT AID OFFERINGS/DONATIONS – can be taken out at anytime throughout the year. It is a valuable source of additional income for the parish with no extra cost to the parishioners.

10/11 SEPTEMBER 2016   “SVP  – continues its theme of “WHO CARES” with a prayer from St. Vincent de Paul himself:” Lord, help me to make time today to serve you in those who are most in need of encouragement or assistance” – SVP in the District of Crawley, support Crawley Open House, the Friary Sunday Lunches, Gatwick Detention Centre, and Winter Night shelter for homeless people.  A new SVP Community Shop opened in July in Broadfield, Crawley.

JUSTICE AND PEACE GROUP  –  meet next at 7.30pm on Tuesday 13 September at Moat UR Church – all welcome.

ADORATION ON FRIDAYS – As a number of the core team are unavailable during the month of September we will need to adjust the time we conclude Adoration. This will mean on Fridays 16th/23rd/30th September the Church will be open for Adoration between hours of 9am and 12pm. We will return to the usual four hours in October.  We would welcome more parishioners willing to commit to one hour on Fridays, so if you are able to do so please contact Seana, Chris or Margaret”

DEAR FRIENDS  – I have entered the East Grinstead 10k Run on Sunday September 24th.  I am looking (pleading) for sponsors to support me and raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, a cause close to me and to the organisers of the race.  The race is in memory of Andy Ripley, who was a local sports superstar (google him) who died young from cancer and whose family started the event.

The run starts at 10am and on the application form I had to estimate how long I would take: I wrote “I hope to be home for tea”.  I will accept donations in any format, but you may find it easiest at:

CATHOLIC WOMENS LEAGUE + AN OPEN PRESENTATION  –  We meet this Wednesday, 14th, in the parish centre, 6:15pm for 6:30. Business matters will be followed with an interesting presentation by local astronomer Stephen Pond on “The moon and stars”. Stephen will bring his telescope and, if the skies are clear, you will be able to view the heavens yourself close-up.  Parishioners, everybody, will be welcome to come along.
CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUPS  EAST GRINSTEAD AND WORTH ABBEY  –  In East Grinstead, the group meets each Thursday from 7.30-8.30 pm in Parish Centre at Our Lady and St Peter’s.  At Worth Abbey, the group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7.45-8.45 pm.  For details of all forthcoming dates this Autumn, please see leaflets at the back of the church.  Visitors and new members are always welcome.  For more information please contact Gabrielle Joyce 326118.

SAFEGUARDING  –  The Catholic Church uses DBS (formerly known as CRB) Disclosures.  The Diocese is now providing safeguarding training for those who carry out ministries in the Parish, which require DBS disclosures.

If you are a Catechist, Eucharistic Minister, Alter Server (over 18years) or involved with music, where young people are playing, you should undertake this training.

LOVE IN A BOX – please keep shoeboxes with detachable lids for this year’s scheme organised by Mustard Seed  www.msrm.org.uk   Leaflets will be available in mid October – boxes back by Sunday 6 November to allow for checking, collection and transport across Europe.

MINI BUS FROM LINGFIELD, DORMANSLAND & EAST GRINSTEAD TO ST. WILFRID’S SCHOOL CRAWLEY
As our children have now left school, the contact person for collecting names of students for the minibus service will now be Sue Stevenson.  Pam at Hello Taxis will continue to provide the service which has been excellent.  My role will continue as person to contact in confidence should finance be a restraint in using the bus. EG FOODBANK  –  requires the following please: boxes of tissues, tins of rice pudding, jars of jam and marmite, cartons of long life milk, surface cleaner, tinned carrots, tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat, washing powder, sugar, cartons of fruit juice and nappies.  Please drop off at Jubilee Community Centre in Charlwood Road or bring to Church and leave in the box near the main door.  Thank you.
CRAWLEY OPEN HOUSE –  is desperately short of blankets, sleeping bags and flasks to give to homeless people who turn up at the door when it is full. Toilet rolls, UHT milk, sugar and tinned meat are particularly required at present but any tinned and packet food is welcome plus tea and coffee.  Please leave donated items at the back of the church at Our Lady and St Peter’s and at St Bernard’s.  Larger items, including duvets and clothes to be taken to OLSP, or taken directly to COH near Three Bridges in Crawley. GATWICK DETAINEES WELFARE GROUP – needs men’s shoes, trainers, jeans and sweatshirts jogging trousers (medium and large sizes please) as well as toiletries.
