WILLS & BEQUESTS – The Parish has benefited greatly in the past from the thoughtfulness of parishioners who have nominated the parish to receive funds from their estate. Pleas e consider it.

GIFT AID OFFERINGS/DONATIONS – can be taken out at any time throughout the year. It is a valuable source of additional income for the parish with no extra cost to the parishioners.

Sleep Out 2017 –  thanks to all parishioners who supported this year’s Sleep Out for local homeless charities. The final total was £4143.66 which meant the Justice and Peace Group has been able to send £1381.22 to Crawley Open House, The Easter Team and Worthing Churches Homeless Project.

THANK YOU   –  for your generosity in recent special collections during September – The Catholic Education

Service: £465; Home Mission Sunday: £511; St Vincent de Paul Society: £600.

CAFOD Harvest Day –  thank you for your generous response to the second collection last week. The final total will be known next week from both churches and this means that more farmers around the world will be able to support their families, now and in the future.  Please continue to pray for them and for CAFOD’s work with the most vulnerable communities across the world.

QUITE INFORMALLY  –  come and spend a little, or more, time any Friday morning at OL&StP church between 9:00am and midday when we have Exposition, that is Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; there is no commitment, just some quiet time as suits you…Come Let Us Adore Him.

Fairtrade West Sussex  –  Good news – West Sussex has just become a Fairtrade County of which Fairtrade East Grinstead and St Peter’s is a part.  Please be careful when shopping for Fairtrade tea at Sainsburys who are great Fairtrade supporters BUT they have introduced their own “fairly-traded” tea which is not the same as Fairtrade tea with the Fairtrade

mark/logo.  It means that instead of farmers and producers in developing counties deciding on what they should spend the Fairtrade premium themselves, Sainsbury’s will do it for them – a form of dis-empowerment for some 220,000 poor tea farmers.

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUPS –In East Grinstead we meet each Thursday from 7.30-8.30 pm, in the Parish Centre/Church Hall at Our Lady and St Peter. At Worth Abbey we meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, from 7.45-8.45 pm, in the Chapel of The Blessed Sacrament, in the Abbey Church. For those who wish to stay, Compline starts at 9.00 pm in the Abbey Church. Visitors and new members are always welcome at both venues. If you would like any more information, please contact Gabrielle Joyce, on 01342 326118.

Love in a Box  –  both churches and St Peter’s School will be participating in this annual scheme which aims to help children in Eastern Europe.  Leaflets will be available this month but in the meantime please save any shoeboxes with detachable lids for the scheme.  Thank you.
