ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – “Exposition takes place every Friday morning at Our Lady & St Peter’s between 09:00-1:00pm. Come let us adore Him.”

REFRESHMENTS – Everybody is cordially invited for refreshments after Sunday Mass at both St Bernard’s and Our Lady & St Peter’s churches.

WILLS & BEQUESTS – The Parish has benefited greatly in the past from the thoughtfulness of parishioners who have nominated the parish to receive funds from their estate. Please consider it.

GIFT AID OFFERINGS/DONATIONS – can be taken out at anytime throughout the year. It is a valuable source of additional income for the parish with no extra cost to the parishioners.

24/25 SEPTEMBER 2016  “SVP  –  We close our awareness month theme of “Who Cares?” with the reminder that the feast of St. Vincent de Paul is on 27th September.  He was known in his own lifetime as “The Apostle of the Poor” and recognised as such by subsequent Popes.  Both St. Bernard’s Conference, Lingfield and that at Our Lady & St. Peter’s, wish to thank parishioners, in anticipation of their generous contributions to the second collection about this time, which is used to help our work in the parish, and also special works of the Society both at home and abroad to help those in need.  There are envelopes available, if you are able to Gift Aid donations, that would be most helpful.”

LEA SCHOOL  – This Independent School in Purley has an Open Week from Monday 26th Sept – Friday 30th Sept.  9.30 – 11.30 each day.  You are welcome to visit as prospective parents.

HARVEST SUNDAY  –  Next weekend we will be celebrating Harvest Sunday at  Masses. You are always very generous with your donations to Crawley Open House and the Food Bank and thank you for that. Gifts of food will be gratefully accepted and should be placed straight onto the altar. Later on Sunday they will be distributed to the charities.

ST PETER’S SCHOOL  –  If your child was born between 1st Sept. 2012 –  31st August  2013, you are now in the process of making a big decision about their primary school.  The school will be hosting information meetings for parents to hear about the school and tour around the site.  You are warmly invited to attend on either

“ADORATION ON FRIDAYS – As a number of the core team are unavailable during the month of September we will need to adjust the time we conclude Adoration. This will mean on Fridays 16th/23rd/30th September the Church will be open for Adoration between hours of 9am and 12pm. We will return to the usual four hours in October.  We would welcome more parishioners willing to commit to one hour on Fridays, so if you are able to do so please contact Seana, Chris or Margaret”

SAFEGUARDING
  –  The Catholic Church uses DBS (formerly known as CRB) Disclosures.  The Diocese is now providing safeguarding training for those who carry out ministries in the Parish, which require DBS disclosures.
If you are a Catechist, Eucharistic Minister, Alter Server (over 18years) or involved with music, where young people are playing, you should undertake this training.

Our local training will be held at:

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUPS  EAST GRINSTEAD AND WORTH ABBEY  –  In East Grinstead, the group meets each Thursday from 7.30-8.30 pm in Parish Centre at Our Lady and St Peter’s.  At Worth Abbey, the group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7.45-8.45 pm.  For details of all forthcoming dates this Autumn, please see leaflets at the back of the church.  Visitors and new members are always welcome.  For more information please contact Gabrielle Joyce 326118.

MISSION TODAY MAGAZINE  –  The Autumn issue of the magazine is available from the church table for Missio members and any parishioner who would like to read one.

GREENING EAST GRINSTEAD – Saturday 8 October from 11am-12.30pm at St Mary’s Church Hall Windmill Lane.  A Christian Aid inspired event to encourage us to take an interest in our local environment as well think as think about matters such as climate change and other environmental issues. Plants for sale, refreshments and activities for children. St Mary’s is an Eco-Church.

TRUST FUND – Three local charities acting together are offering Supermarket vouchers to eligible people over the £65 who require assistance.  Forms are available attached to a poster on the Community noticeboard.  Please complete and return by Friday 21 October to EG Town Council.

LOVE IN A BOX – please keep shoeboxes with detachable lids for this year’s scheme organised by Mustard Seed  www.msrm.org.uk   Leaflets will be available in mid October – boxes back by Sunday 6 November to allow for checking, collection and transport across Europe.

FAIRTRADE EAST GRINSTEAD FUNDRAISER QUIZ  – date for the diary: 7.30pm Friday 11 November at Imberhorne School. Details to follow.

EG FOODBANK  –  requires the following please: boxes of tissues, tins of rice pudding, jars of jam and marmite, cartons of long life milk, surface cleaner, tinned carrots, tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat, washing powder, sugar, cartons of fruit juice and nappies.  Please drop off at Jubilee Community Centre in Charlwood Road or bring to Church and leave in the box near the main door.

CRAWLEY OPEN HOUSE –  is desperately short of blankets, sleeping bags and flasks to give to homeless people who turn up at the door when it is full. Toilet rolls, UHT milk, sugar and tinned meat are particularly required at present but any tinned and packet food is welcome plus tea and coffee.  Please leave donated items at the back of the church at Our Lady and St Peter’s and at St Bernard’s.  Larger items, including duvets and clothes to be taken to OLSP, or taken directly to COH near Three Bridges in Crawley. GATWICK DETAINEES WELFARE GROUP – needs men’s shoes, trainers, jeans and sweatshirts jogging trousers (medium and large sizes please) as well as toiletries.
