ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – “Exposition takes place every Friday morning at Our Lady & St Peter’s between 09:00-1:00pm. Come let us adore Him.”

REFRESHMENTS – Everybody is cordially invited for refreshments after Sunday Mass at both St. Bernard’s and Our Lady & St Peter’s churches.

WILLS & BEQUESTS – The Parish has benefited greatly in the past from the thoughtfulness of parishioners who have nominated the parish to receive funds from their estate. Pleas e consider it.

GIFT AID OFFERINGS/DONATIONS – can be taken out at anytime throughout the year. It is a valuable source of additional income for the parish with no extra cost to the parishioners.

THANK YOU  –  to Fr. Carl Davies for celebrating Mass with us for the Vigil, and Fr. Kevin OSB for celebrating the Sunday 9am and 10.30am.

Bacon Butties  –  will be served after 9.00am mass this Sunday  28th May at St. Bernard’s.  All profits will help aid the young helpers going on the Diocesan Pilgrimage this summer so they help care for assisted and disabled pilgrims.

ECUMENICAL PICNIC – SUNDAY 11TH JUNE  –  from 12.00 onwards in Dormansland Rec.  The congregations of the churches in Lingfield and Dormansland are invited to gather for a picnic and activities afternoon.  Please bring your own picnic lunch and possibly something extra to share.

LINGFIELD SVP CAKE SALE –  in St. Bernard’s Church Hall after the 9am Mass on Sunday 11th June.  The proceeds  are for the SVP’s baby-feeding work in South Sudan.

CHRISTIAN  MEDITATION GROUPS –  in East Grinstead we meet each Thursday from 7.30-8.30 pm, in the Parish Centre/Church Hall at Our Lady and St Peter.  At Worth Abbey we meet each 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, from 7.45-8.45 pm, in the Chapel of The Blessed Sacrament, in the Abbey Church. For those who wish to stay, Compline starts at 9.00 pm in the Abbey Church.  Visitors and new members are always welcome at both venues.  If you would like any more information, please contact Gabrielle Joyce, on 01342 326118.

The Hospices of Hope shop  –   is looking for 2 part-time assistant managers to help run their successful shop in London Rd. The charity is the leading palliative care charity in S E Europe providing care and support for people at the end of life. The shops provide invaluable funds to finance the charity’s pioneering range of services and expertise. If you are caring, enthusiastic with an interest in people and making a difference why not call Brigid on 01342 315362 to find out more about a career with The Hospices of Hope.  There are also opportunities for volunteering so call in and ask us about joining us for a couple of hours a week.

PARISH SUMMER LUNCH – SUNDAY 18TH JUNE –  at St. Bernard’s Church Hall, gathering from 12.30pm for lunch at 1.00 pm.  All arrangements will be as for the previous lunches: soft drinks will be provided but please bring your own alcoholic drinks; pre-booking is not required – just come along if you wish; there is no charge but there will be a voluntary donations basket.  Everyone is welcome – from all corners of the parish.

PARISH MAGAZINE: CONTRIBUTIONS NEEDED  –  by the end of June, in order to have a summer issue.  Anything helpful/interesting for parishioners from our parish organizations, societies, clubs, the school, etc., or related to the Church, the Diocese, or our parish, charities, pilgrimages, charity work at home or abroad is all very welcome, along with poems, drawings, crosswords, puzzles….  Also, please be sure to let me know if any of the entries for Parish Organizations on the inside back cover need to be changed (times or places of meetings, names, telephone numbers). Submissions can be emailed to me at: [email protected] (or left at the back of the church, addressed to Klara King).

Sleep Out for Homeless Charities – this will be held overnight on Saturday 1 July in the High Street. Anyone wishing to join J&P Group members please let Sue Joy know asap. EG 835190.  We will be seeking sponsorship from the w/e of 3/4 June.  Thank you for your generosity.  The charities are Crawley Open House, The Easter Team and Worthing Churches Homeless Charities.  Thank you.

MUSIC AFTERNOON WITH CREAM TEA  –  A date for your diary:  on Sunday 9th July in St. Bernard’s Hall at 3pm there will be an afternoon of music from films and shows, also cream teas – in aid of Friends of the Holy Land.

EVENINGS OF REFLECTION WITH BISHOP RICHARD, 2018

In 2016 and 2017, Bishop Richard invited Confirmation candidates to join him at Evenings of Reflection held around the Diocese.  More than 350 people attended in 2017, and had the chance to meet with Bishop Richard and to be led in the practice of Lectio Divina.

Bishop Richard will be doing the same thing in 2018.  The dates and locations are now available so that parishes and Confirmation co-ordinators can factor them into their planning.

Thursday February 22nd – St Michael’s Church, Worthing

Saturday March 3rd – St John’s Seminary, Wonersh

CRAWLEY OPEN HOUSE –  is desperately short of blankets, sleeping bags and flasks to give to homeless people who turn up at the door when it is full.  Toilet rolls, UHT milk, sponge puddings, sugar and tinned meat are particularly required at present but any tinned and packet food is welcome plus tea and coffee.  Please leave donated items at the back of the church at Our Lady and St. Peter’s and at St. Bernard’s.  Larger items, including duvets and clothes to be taken to OLSP, or taken directly to COH near Three Bridges in Crawley.  Tel: 01293 447702.  Alternatively, if you prefer, please leave a cash contribution in the basket and the SVP will purchase items on your behalf.  Thank you.
