ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – “Exposition takes place every Friday morning at Our Lady & St Peter’s between 09:00-1:00pm. Come let us adore Him.”

REFRESHMENTS – Everybody is cordially invited for refreshments after Sunday Mass at both St Bernard’s and Our Lady & St Peter’s churches.

WILLS & BEQUESTS – The Parish has benefited greatly in the past from the thoughtfulness of parishioners who have nominated the parish to receive funds from their estate. Please consider it.

GIFT AID OFFERINGS/DONATIONS – can be taken out at anytime throughout the year. It is a valuable source of additional income for the parish with no extra cost to the parishioners.

Your support and donations this Harvest Fast Day will enable our partners to work with people across the world to have access to tools and training, and empower them to become self-sufficient despite living in the most difficult of conditions. Additionally, your donations this Fast Day will be used to fund our partners work in Europe and the Middle East to support those affected by the refugee crisis.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PROGRAMME APPLICATION FORMS – Our parish programme for First Forgiveness and First Holy Communion will be starting in early November. We invite all children in Year 4 primary school and older to apply. Forms will be available at the back of St. Bernard and Our Lady and St Peter churches. Please fill in and return to Fr Steven Purnell or Deacon Ted Rider.

PARISH 100 CLUB – Congratulations to winners in the September draw: 1st, £50, no 126, Miss McLaughlin; 2nd, £25, no 76, Mrs Davies; 3rd, £15, no 90, Mrs Patrie. AND have you seen the smart new blue wooden notice board by the church entrance at Our Lady & St Peter? This has been provided by funds from the 100 Club. ST. PETER’S SCHOOL GOVERNORS MEET – Thursday – 7pm.

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUP – We meet each Thursday in the Parish Centre from 4.30-5.30 pm term time. Visitors and new members are always welcome. If you would like more information, please contact Gabrielle Joyce on 326118.

DIOCESAN FESTIVAL DVD – There will be a DVD of the Festival, available sometime in the autumn, but with a large
amount of filming to be edited this is taking a while to process. More information will follow once a release date is known, but you can pre-order your copy now from the Diocesan Bookshop – 01293 651140 [email protected].

PARISH MAGAZINE – this year, the aim is to have an issue of the Magazine before Christmas – ideally by the beginning of Advent – so we will need contributions by early November. As the last issue was at Easter, it would be good to catch up with everything that has happened since then (First Holy Communion, Confirmation, the school, fetes, outings etc.), as well as plans for the winter and for Christmas, along with any other news from parish organizations, societies, clubs, etc. Other contributions, poems, etc. are all very welcome.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – The Hospices of Hope shop in London Road is seeking volunteers to help in the shop. If you could spare 4 hours a week you could make a huge difference.
The Hospices of Hope is the leading charity in S E Europe providing palliative care to children and adults with terminal illness. You may remember David and Katherine Armstrong went out to Bucharest in 2011 to help run a summer camp for sick children and their families. They were really impressed with the quality of help provided. Call in to the shop or call 01342 315362 for further information. Donations of clothing, bric a brac and furniture always welcome.

Worth Abbey Parish Saturday 10th October 10am – 2pm in the Unity Room
A workshop led by Dr Martin Poulsom, Head of Theology at Heythrop College on the Vatican II pastoral constitution “Gaudium et Spes” (Joy and Hope) exploring the Church’s teachings on humanity’s relation to society and how it guides us to respond to modern day issues. Light lunch provided. All are most welcome.

Love in a Box – leaflets are now available at both churches with regard to this annual scheme. Please take one and read the instructions carefully. Children at St Peter’s School will be notified separately. Boxes prepared by Parishioners must be returned to Church by Friday 6 November as they are being collected on Monday 9 Nov. – please try to meet this deadline. Global Mid Sussex – from 2pm-5pm on Saturday 24 October at the Jubilee Community Centre. A free event to celebrate cultural diversity with foodtasting from around the world.

Concert of Irish Music with musicians and singers. Musical Director – Liam Bauress including Traditional Cream Tea with finger sandwiches, cakes and scones etc. All proceeds to Friends of the Holy Land.

EG Foodbank – Urgently requires Tinned Meat (but not corned beef), Sponge Puddings, Biscuits (medium sized packets most useful), Soap (bars or liquid), Fruit Juice (must be longlife), Tinned fruit, Cornflakes/Cheerios/Frosties/Rice Crispies, Tinned Tuna, Semi-skimmed milk (longlife), Pasta sauce and Shower Gel. Also, the Foodbank is seeking more volunteers to meet clients/sort food in the warehouse on a rota basis and represent the foodbank at local events, training will be given. CRAWLEY OPEN HOUSE – is desperately short of blankets, sleeping bags and flasks to give to homeless people who turn up at the door when it is full. Toilet rolls, UHT milk, sugar and tinned meat are particularly required at present but any tinned and packet food is welcome plus tea and coffee. Please leave donated items at the back of the church at Our Lady and St Peter’s and at St Bernard’s. Larger items, including duvets and clothes to be taken to OLSP, or taken directly to COH near Three Bridges in Crawley. Tel: 01293 447702. GATWICK DETAINEES WELFARE GROUP – needs men’s shoes, trainers, jeans and sweatshirts jogging trousers (medium and large sizes please) as well as toiletries.
