OCT 2016 – SPONSORED WALK  –  A group of us are attempting a 100km walk in Tuscany this Autumn to raise funds for a wonderful charity called Aiaba.  http://www.aiaba.it
English version and to donate:   https://www.retedeldono.it/en/search/AIABA

Aiaba is a special school in Florence for children with Autism.  Their future aim is to provide long term residential care for the young people as they grow up to become adults and still need support.  This is going to be a major task to finance.  We would very much like to raise funds for this worthy cause.    Indira (Graffius) and Piero’s middle boy is 21 now and he has been all the way through Aiaba and he now needs the school more than ever – especially the residential facility yet to exist.

Indira and Piero live near to a wonderful Pilgrims’ walk in Tuscany called the Via Francigena (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Via_Francigena) which is split into daily sections.    We are booked into accommodation along the route for 4 days (17th – 20th Oct).   We aim to walk from San Miniato to Siena – approx 100km.  Please see on noticeboard at the back of the church the SPONSORED WALK FAMILY PICTURES.  Thank you.

TRUST FUND – Three local charities acting together are offering Supermarket vouchers to eligible people over the £65 who require assistance.  Forms are available attached to a poster on the Community noticeboard.  Please complete and return by Friday 21 October to EG Town Council.

LOVE-IN-A-BOX – leaflets are now available in both churches.  Please take one and read carefully.  Please return completed shoeboxes (full of goodies) for children in Moldavia by Sunday 6 November.  Sue Joy is the contact for OLSP. EG 835190 and Enrique Valles for St Bernard’s EG 832568.

FAIRTRADE QUIZ  –  Please book now for this event at 7.30pm on Friday 11 November at Imberhorne Upper School. This is a fundraiser for the town’s Fairtrade Group.  Tickets: £8 each or £60 per table of 8. The ticket includes food.  There will be a raffle, music and a Fairtrade stall. Further details from Sue Joy. Tel: EG 835190 or email [email protected]

EG FOODBANK  –  requires the following please: boxes of tissues, tins of rice pudding, jars of jam and marmite, cartons of long life milk, surface cleaner, tinned carrots, tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, tinned meat, washing powder, sugar, cartons of fruit juice and nappies.  Please drop off at Jubilee Community Centre in Charlwood Road or bring to Church and leave in the box near the main door.

CRAWLEY OPEN HOUSE –  is desperately short of blankets, sleeping bags and flasks to give to homeless people who turn up at the door when it is full. Toilet rolls, UHT milk, sugar and tinned meat are particularly required at present but any tinned and packet food is welcome plus tea and coffee.  Please leave donated items at the back of the church at Our Lady and St Peter’s and at St Bernard’s.  Larger items, including duvets and clothes to be taken to OLSP, or taken directly to COH near Three Bridges in Crawley. Tel: 01293 447702. Alternatively, if you prefer, please leave a cash contribution in the basket and the SVP will purchase items on your behalf. Thank you.

GATWICK DETAINEES WELFARE GROUP – needs men’s shoes, trainers, jeans and sweatshirts jogging trousers (medium and large sizes please) as well as toiletries.
