ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – “Exposition takes place every Friday morning at Our Lady & St Peter’s between 09:00-1:00pm.  Come let us adore Him.”

REFRESHMENTS – Everybody is cordially invited for refreshments after Sunday Mass at both St. Bernard’s and Our Lady & St Peter’s churches.

WILLS & BEQUESTS – The Parish has benefited greatly in the past from the thoughtfulness of parishioners who have nominated the parish to receive funds from their estate.  Pleas e consider it.

GIFT AID OFFERINGS/DONATIONS – can be taken out at anytime throughout the year.  It is a valuable source of additional income for the parish with no extra cost to the parishioners.

TODAY – SUNDAY 18TH JUNE – SUMMER LUNCH  –  at St. Bernard’s Church Hall, gathering from 12.30pm for lunch at 1.00 pm.  All arrangements will be as for the previous lunches: soft drinks will be provided but please bring your own alcoholic drinks; pre-booking is not required – just come along if you wish; there is no charge but there will be a voluntary donations basket.  Everyone is welcome – from all corners of the parish.

THANK YOU  –  to all who supported last Sunday’s LINGFIELD SVP CAKE SALE which raised a further £250 for the SVP’s baby-feeding work in South Sudan.

URGENT  –  appeal for help with Car Parking at Worth Abbey for the Diocese Confirmations on Sunday June 25th (Sunday week) between 1:30-3pm. MISSIO RED BOXES  – Would Red Box holders please bring their box to church for the mid-year count. Please bring it to the sacristy or hand it to Chris or Margaret, don’t leave it anywhere else. If your box is usually counted at home this will happen as usual.  As advised earlier, if you are a new box holder following the recent appeal and would prefer to hold over until the next count in November, that will be quite alright. If any queries, just contact Margaret or Chris (327002). Thank you.

MISSION TODAY MAGAZINE  –  Complimentary copies of the Summer edition of Mission Today are available from the church table at OL&StP for Red Box/Missio members and any parishioner who would like to have one.

ADORATION ON FRIDAY MORNINGS – Please note that, effective Friday, 16th June, and during the Summer period, Adoration will operate between 09-00 and 12:00 midday instead of concluding at 1:00 o’clock. This is to allow for foreseen absences of “core” attendees. We have to ensure that there is always attendance in front of the Blessed Sacrament and we really do need some more support from parishioners who are able to commit their presence for a set period each Friday morning. This can be flexible, just speak to Seana, Margaret or Chris c/o 327002

REFUGEE WEEK EVENT – A Lampedusa Cross will return to Worth Abbey from 17th to 25th June to mark Refugee Week (refugeeweek.org.uk).  You will have another opportunity to meditate on the Cross and write “message cards” to refugees if you missed the Cross during its Winter visit to Worth Abbey.  The Cross will reside within the Lady Chapel in the church during its stay.  On Saturday 24 June there will be a meditative walk and prayers for refugees beginning at 3.15pm in the Narthex, followed by Mass at 5pm. Tea and conversation will be in St. Benedict’s for any guest who wishes to stay, but not attend mass. Lastly, from 6pm and after Mass, there will be an informal meeting with supper and speakers at St. Benedict’s to finish this day of refugee prayer and awareness.  Father Paul would greatly appreciate having an idea of numbers for the supper after 5pm Mass with RSVP’s to [email protected].


EAST GRINSTEAD CATENIANS  –  The East Grinstead Circle of the Catenian Association will meet at the Dorset Arms, High Street, East Grinstead on Monday, 19th June at 8.00 p.m.  The Catenian Association is an international brotherhood of practising Catholic laymen who meet socially, at least once a month. OUR LADY & ST PETER’S LUNCH CLUB   – meet on Wednesday 21st June in the Parish Centre at 2pm for our Afternoon Tea Party.  Liam has kindly agreed to bring his music and entertain us.  Please ring Ivy (323240) Jean (311295) or your driver  if you are not able to come.

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUP – EAST GRINSTEAD  –  there will be NO MEETING on THURSDAY 22nd JUNE. Meetings will resume the following week as usual.

EG FOODBANK  items particularly required for Summer holiday school lunch packs are Rice Pudding, Jam Pasta Sauce (jars), Tinned Hot Dogs, Tinned Meat Balls ,Tinned Pasta (hoops etc), Biscuits (small Packets) Tinned Tomatoes and Tinned Fruit.  Please could donations be made by Friday, 23rd June 2017 either to St Peter’s or the Jubilee Centre or Charlwoods Road, or donation boxes at Waitrose or Lloyds Bank. ENCOUNTER (for 15-30s), FRIDAY 23rd, ST WILFRID’S CRAWLEY (RH11 8PG), 7.30PM – Friendly people, refreshments, inspiring talks, live music, Adoration… Come and find out why so many people find ENCOUNTER so powerful! Our guest speaker this month is Ben Gray. Ben is part of the Brighton Wellspring Community and a popular speaker at youth events. The evenings starts at 7.30 with food. Entry free. PARISH MAGAZINE: CONTRIBUTIONS NEEDED  –  by the end of June, in order to have a summer issue.  Anything helpful/interesting for parishioners from our parish organizations, societies, clubs, the school, etc., or related to the Church, the Diocese, or our parish, charities, pilgrimages, charity work at home or abroad is all very welcome, along with poems, drawings, crosswords, puzzles….  Also, please be sure to let me know if any of the entries for Parish Organizations on the inside back cover need to be changed (times or places of meetings, names, telephone numbers). SLEEP OUT FOR HOMELESS CHARITIES – this will be held overnight on Saturday 1 July in the High Street. Anyone wishing to join J&P Group members please let Sue Joy know asap. EG 835190.  We will be seeking sponsorship from the w/e of 3/4 June.  Thank you for your generosity.  The charities are Crawley Open House, The Easter Team and Worthing Churches Homeless Charities.  Thank you.

UNDERSTANDING CAFOD INFORMATION DAY  –  on Saturday 1st July from 2.30-4.30pm  at English Martyr’s Church, Horley, RH6 8AR.  A look at CAFOD’s work and how it is trying to end poverty.

DAY FOR YOUTH LEADERS AND CONFIRMATION CATECHISTS WITH INTERNATIONAL

SPEAKER MICHAEL MARCHAND

Tickets are still available for the ‘Breakthrough’ day on Saturday July 8th, being held at DABCEC in Crawley (10am to 3.30pm). The day is aimed at youth group leaders, confirmation catechists, those involved in young adult ministry, and anybody who is simply interested in any of the above. Tickets are £10, with reductions available for larger groups. Michael Marchand is from Texas and is a popular speaker in the US and around the world. He will be helping us to focus on evangelisation.  Following Michael’s input, there will be streams for confirmation, youth ministry, and young adult ministry.

MUSIC AFTERNOON WITH CREAM TEA  –  A date for your diary:  on Sunday 9th July in St. Bernard’s Hall at 3pm there will be an afternoon of music from films and shows, also cream teas – in aid of Friends of the Holy Land.

CHARITY TAPAS MEAL FOR YOUNG ‘REDSHIRT’ HELPERS GOING TO LOURDES  – To be held on Monday 17th July at La Farola Restaurant, East Grinstead. Cost is £16 per head of which £8 will help the 5 Redshirts in Year 10 going to Lourdes on the Diocesan Pilgrimage for the first time. Please call La Farola to book on 01342 322399 to let them know you are part of the charity dinner and also of any dietary requirements.  ARRIVE 7PM FOR 7.30PM START.
