ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT – “Exposition takes place every Friday morning at Our Lady & St Peter’s between 09:00-1:00pm. Come let us adore Him.”

REFRESHMENTS – Everybody is cordially invited for refreshments after Sunday Mass at both St. Bernard’s and Our Lady & St Peter’s churches.

WILLS & BEQUESTS – The Parish has benefited greatly in the past from the thoughtfulness of parishioners who have nominated the parish to receive funds from their estate. Pleas e consider it.

GIFT AID OFFERINGS/DONATIONS – can be taken out at any time throughout the year. It is a valuable source of additional income for the parish with no extra cost to the parishioners.

Love in a Box  –  both churches and St Peter’s School will be participating in this annual scheme which aims to help children in Eastern Europe.  Leaflets will be available in October but in the meantime please save any shoeboxes with detachable lids for the scheme.  Thank you.

“SVP”   –  once again, September is SVP Awareness month.  Our theme is “Welcoming the Stranger”; the stranger on  the street experiencing social isolation; the lonely person in need of befriending; the grieving person needing comfort; the stranger from abroad needing a fresh start.  Please read the general article about the SVP in the September edition of the A&B Newspaper.”

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND RECONCILIATION 2018  –  If you have a child in Year 4 primary school year or older and would like to enrol them in our next programme, please take an Application Form at the back of your church and complete. Please hand your form to Fr Steven Purnell, East,Grinstead Deacon Ted Rider, Lingfield or the school office at St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School, East Grinstead. The first parents’ meeting without the children will be held on Wednesday 20th September at 8pm in the church hall East Grinstead.

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUPS  – We will be starting to meet again after the Summer break. In East Grinstead  our first meeting will be on Thursday 7th September from 7.30-8.30 pm, in the Parish Centre/Church Hall at  Our Lady and St Peter. We will continue to meet each week as usual.  At Worth Abbey our first meeting will be on Wednesday 13th September. We will then continue to meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, from 7.45-8.45 pm, in the Chapel of The Blessed Sacrament, in the Abbey Church.  For those who wish to stay,

Compline starts at 9.00 pm in the Abbey Church.  Visitors and new members are always welcome at both venues.

ENCOUNTER (FOR 15-30s) IS BACK THIS FRIDAY –  The popular ENCOUNTER programme for older teens and twenty-somethings is back this Friday. 7.30pm at St Wilfrid’s School. ENCOUNTER started in 2014, and was designed to give young Catholics a way to get closer to God and make some friends in a welcoming, relaxed environment. The evenings last for a couple of hours and include music, inspiring talks, food and then (for over 18s) a trip to the pub afterwards.  Absolutely anyone is welcome.  For more information, search ‘Catholic ENCOUNTER’ on Facebook.

EG Foodbank – requires cartons of 1 litre long-life fruit juice, small boxes of washing powder deodorants – both male and female, small boxes or packets of tissues, small packs of toilet rolls, 1 litre cartons of long-life milk, soap, washing up liquid, and tinned meat (eg hot dogs, meat balls).  Bring to church or take straight to Jubilee Community Centre, or Sainsbury’s, Waitrose or Barclays Bank. CRAWLEY OPEN HOUSE – welcomes blankets, sleeping bags and flasks to give to homeless people who turn up at the door when it is full.  Toilet rolls, UHT milk, sponge puddings, sugar and tinned meat are particularly required at present but any tinned and packet food is welcome plus tea and coffee.  Please leave donated items at the back of the church at Our Lady and St. Peter’s and at St. Bernard’s.  Larger items, including duvets and clothes to be taken to OLSP, or taken directly to COH near Three Bridges in Crawley.  Tel: 01293 447702.  Alternatively, if you prefer, please leave a cash contribution in the basket and  the SVP will purchase items on your behalf.  Thank you.
