FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PROGRAMME APPLICATION FORMS – Our parish programme for First Forgiveness and First Holy Communion will be starting in early November. We invite all children in Year 4 primary school and older to apply. Forms will be available at the back of St. Bernard and Our Lady and St Peter churches. Please fill in and return to Fr Steven Purnell or Deacon Ted Rider.

Confirmation 2016Invitations for young people currently in Year 10 or above, to join the preparation programme for Confirmation in 2016, will shortly be available. The date for Confirmation next year is 22nd May 2016.

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUP   – We meet each Thursday in the Parish Centre from 4.30-5.30 pm term time. Visitors and new members are always welcome. If you would like more information, please contact Gabrielle Joyce on 326118.

“SVP – Thanks to you all, last year our “Cash4Coins” campaign raised £170, from 13 kilos of old money, foreign coins and old bank notes. We are now repeating this, and so far we have collected 4 kilos. Please leave any unwanted coins in the sacristy, (in a bag of course) or see me at the 6.15pm Mass on Saturdays. A huge thank you for the result of second collection for the SVP at OL&StP and Lingfield, and we equitably received over £300 for each conference. Peter Wells, President.

EAST GRINSTEAD CATENIANS – The East Grinstead Circle of the Catenian Association will meet on Wednesday, 21st October at Rowfant House, Rowfant at 8.00 p.mAt their September meeting the 2014/15 President of the EG Catenian Circle, Phil Pentney, was delighted to present a cheque for £950 to Maxine Smeaton, Chief Executive of the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation based at Queen Victoria Hospital. CAFOD Harvest Collection thanks   Thank you for your support and solidarity.  You have helped to ensure that more people across the world will be able to grow enough food to support themselves, even during the most extreme droughts.  Additionally, your donations this Fast Day are being used to fund our partners work in Europe and the Middle East to support those affected by the refugee crisis.

Parish Magazine –  this year, the aim is to have an issue of the Magazine before Christmas – ideally by the beginning of Advent – so we will need contributions by early November.  As the last issue was at Easter, it would be good to catch up with everything that has happened since then (First Holy Communion, Confirmation, the school, fetes, outings etc.), as well as plans for the winter and for Christmas, along with any other news from parish organizations, societies, clubs, etc. Other contributions, poems, etc. are all very welcome. Submissions should ideally be emailed to me at  [email protected] Alternatively, they can be left at the back of the church, addressed to Klara King.

Global Mid Sussex  – from 2pm-5pm on Saturday 24 October at the Jubilee Community Centre.  A free event to celebrate cultural diversity with foodtasting from around the world.

INTERNSHIP : dabcec – The Pastoral Team at DABCEC is now able to offer an internship for a maximum period of one year. This short-term post will involve working with the advisers on different initiatives and will include a range of duties and administrative work. This opportunity is appropriate to those with an interest in pastoral work within the Church or who wish to develop and evidence work-place skills, and, who may be waiting for places at university or longer-term work opportunities. This Internship scheme builds on two recent successful experiences and is designed both to assist the Pastoral Team in its work but also to ensure that participants receive a valuable and rewarding experience, with benefits for their personal and professional development. Love in a Box – leaflets are now available at both churches with regard to this annual scheme.  Please take one and read the instructions carefully.  Children at St Peter’s School will be notified separately. Boxes prepared by Parishioners must be returned to Church by Friday 6 November as they are being collected on Monday 9 Nov. – please try to meet this deadline. EG Foodbank – Urgently requires Tinned Meat (but not corned beef), Sponge Puddings, Biscuits (medium sized packets most useful), Soap (bars or liquid), Fruit Juice (must be longlife), Tinned fruit, Cornflakes/Cheerios/Frosties/Rice Crispies, Tinned Tuna, Semi-skimmed milk (longlife), Pasta sauce and Shower Gel.  Also, the Foodbank is seeking more volunteers to meet clients/sort food in the warehouse on a rota basis and represent the foodbank at local events, training will be given.
